This is an example of one of my Mentor Teacher's Day plans. She uses it to prepare and track what the students are learning and organize her time accordingly. She has set up her day plan to appeal to all of the major subjects by assigning an activity to each one almost every day. Day plans are of utmost importance in planning. I know I only have so much time with the students during the day and I know I have several curriculum expectations to fulfill so its important that I try and stick to a strict day plan to manage my time. Most of these activities are done at workshops which are student oriented and require little explanation from the teacher. If I were going to teach a formal lesson, I would also include lesson plans in accordance to my day plan.
I have composed a collection of resources and tips that I have taken out of the classroom that I would feel confident using in my own practice. My resources include certain manipulatives I would need to have in the room, links to websites such as Pintrest or Edugains for fun learning activities, apps that offer reading materials, methods of teaching certain concepts such as syllables, and much more. This is just the beginning of a long list I am working on during my candidacy and I plan to have a huge war chest when I am required next year.
This is a rubric assessing students reading capabilities that I enjoy using from Kelfy. I am able to categorize students based on what type of books they can read, actions they may be doing during their reading and if they are able to retell parts of the story or not. Students in grade 1 may be anywhere on this list to show that they are reading at their grade level.
